Michelle truly believes that costumes embody and express the personalities of the characters wearing them on stage or in front of the camera. She is inspired by the beauty and diversity of the world around her. From the vibrant colours of nature to the rich cultural heritage of different countries, she draws inspiration from a variety of sources to create costumes that are unique and expressive. Designing, creating, and constructing unique clothing, costumes and accessories is truly a profession that she excels at, which brings her joy every day. As a multifaceted costumer, Michelle has taken on many roles, such as Truck Costumer, Set Assist, Background Costumer, Prep Costumer, Accessorist, Stitcher, Cutter, Dye and Breakdown Artist, Buyer, Design Assistant and Costume Designer.
Michelle completed Capilano University's Costuming for Stage and Screen Program, with honours. During her time as a costuming student, her creative vision was geared toward the creation of costumes by coming up with innovative designs, drafting patterns, as well as sewing and constructing these amazing pieces. Previous to earning her diploma at Capilano, she also completed intermediate and advanced level classes at The Cut Fashion Academy.
Michelle has been able to merge her love of costuming with Paintertainment’s wearable art for over a decade! Working with such unique and artistic creations is a truly rewarding experience for her. The fact that she enjoys all aspects—creating, wearing, and dressing others—shows her passion and versatility within the costuming world.
